Hello!

Good morning everybody!

Haven't checked in for quite a while. These babies really cramp my free time, who knew?

Jamie, I can see you could not restrain yourself from the egg vernacular. I really can't blame you! Good job chickens!

Congrats to the Polar Bear swimmers, crazy though you may be.

And Happy Birthday to Maura! Hope you had a fun celebration!

Yesterday started off great--got a spot near the train, which has been impossible the last few weeks due to the snow. Had a fine day at work. Got off the train to discover--my car had been towed! Had to take a cab to the police station, pick up a slip, then take a cab to the tow place. It was not fun! Apparently Boston is ticketing lots of people for parking too far from the curb due to the snow. Kind of bogus, as it was a legitimate spot and clearly dug out for parking. The upside was, an enormous wolf-like dog (probably almost 4 feet tall and the guy said 115 lbs) greeted the cab by sitting and refusing to budge at the entrance of the lot. I heard a guy yell, "JULIA! Get in the office!" and she promptly got up and trotted to the trailer. I entered the trailer, greeted by three chain smoking men (think Phil's cabin on the Deadliest Catch), who could not have been nicer. When I asked about the dog, they brought her out and spoke so highly of her--they clearly loved her to pieces! It ended up being a pretty positive experience. They informed me she was normally white, but appeared black because she had been rolling in mud--they could not stress enough that she would be getting a bath. They also enthusiastically encouraged me to come back to see her when she was clean. She was so sweet--a gentle giant. So all in all, it could have been far worse.

Next week we will have a pseudo-vacay to Floral Park. Andy and I plan to frolic in the city while the grandparents babysit. We are going to hit some "third wave" coffee shops in the village, and go to the Museum of Natural History later in the day. My parents gifted us with a hotel room in Times Square--so excited! Hope I can stay up past 8. We'll see.

Tonight Patti will visit, I think. I made a crockpot meal--black eyed peas, smoked sausage, rice, and collard greens. Cooked overnight and ready to go for dinner. Yum!
